Student Mental Health Support

The Student Mental Health, Systems Strategy and Policy Office collaborates with various partners to ensure equitable access to high-quality mental health services across the University of Toronto’s three campuses.

The Student Mental Health strategy was developed in response to the recommendations of the Presidential and Provostial Task Force on Student Mental Health (2019) that was informed by substantial feedback from students. One new development is the launch of the Tri-Campus Student Mental Health Team, based out of the OVPS and led by Chris Bartha, Senior Executive Director, Student Mental Health.

We know there’s still more to do. A Tri-Campus Student Mental Health Advisory Committee will launch this fall to review the impact of our work to date and inform future efforts to improve services. This includes our options to better communicate the mental health resources available to students and staff supporting them.

Reach out for support.

MySSP has now changed to  U of T Telus Health Student Support.

The program continues to offer U of T students free, confidential mental health support and is a critical tool for students, staff and faculty in promoting the well-being of our community.

Students have access to free mental health and well-being support via the app, with real-time chat and phone consultations available 24/7. Staff and faculty can also use the app 24/7 to access live support for students in crisis.

Video and phone counselling appointments are available by calling 1-844-451-9700.

Students located outside Canada or the United States can call 001-416-380-6578. To avoid long-distance charges, students can either make a collect call or phone over WiFi.

More information about the service and this transition can be found at uoft.me/THSS

Navi is an anonymous chat-based virtual assistant for students wanting to learn more about the mental health supports available to them at the University of Toronto and in the community. Click on the Navi icon on this page to be connected for a chat.

Students can meet with a mental health counselor on the first day they request it, or within a few days if they prefer. (No waiting!) Contact your campus health and wellness department for details or click here for more info about counseling services on all campuses.

Launch NAVI to walk through what you need.
